June 10 – 12, 2021
Ulrik Barfod’s voice and movement workshop seeks to find dynamic sources of sounds to bring out the unique vocal potential of each participant.
The work involves attentive listening to oneself and to others, requiring concentration and the capacity to identify with other persons’ efforts. It is a way to support each other’s progress during both individual and group work.
Ulrik’s work is based on the respect for each person’s unique expression. His listening and observation skills, his soft determination and use of time allows students to find sources of creativity within.
The workshop includes physical and vocal warm-ups, improvisation, and solo work with Ulrik in the presence of the rest of the group. Ulrik brings his unconditional respect and belief in all people to his work. Physical movements help liberate the voice by inspiring to travel in space, awakening the imagination and making us feel who we are and what we want to ‘say’ rather than trying to understand ourselves intellectually.
